My name is Pete Anderson.
I am an Emergency Physician in the Air Force. I hold the degree of MD (Medical Doctor).
I went to medical school at the Creighton University School of Medicine and did my emergency medicine residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium.
The purpose of this blog and podcast are to bring medical education to the austere and tactical medic no matter where he is on the globe or how deep he is in the wilderness. Specifically I will be addressing new advances in trauma care, wilderness medicine, tactical combat casualty care updates, USSOCOM Advanced Tactical Practitioner scope of practice and protocols (TMEPs), and other topics of interest to the combat and austere medic (WEMT, SOCM, 18D, PJ, IDMT, IDC, corpsman, etc.). My focus is to educate the guy on the ground with the aid bag so he can provide the best possible care!

Just found your site today and first things first, thanks for taking the time to make something like this for the people on the ground. On that note, where did you go and when are you coming back. I think you have a great opportunity to help the medics in the military take better care of soldiers and in turn, influence battlefield medicine for the better. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks, Tim. I sure do believe in checklists. As a flight surgeon, i’ve seen the critical role checklists play during in-flight emergencies and I’m sure there’s way more medical utility to their use than folks want to admit. I’ve often thought it would be a great and very large project to undertake, but having a compilation of emergency medicine “checklists” would be a great addition to the textbook pool of this specialty. It would be awesome to have it separated by “boldface” immediate actions that must be memorized and then follow-on actions to run the checklist. Just like they do in aviation.

I was turned onto your podcasts by an instructor at the SOCM schoolhouse, specifically for your talk on Ketamine. After binge listening to all of them today I am hungry for more!
